The "Why"
Mission Statement:
At Paka’s Pitbull Rescue & Rehabilitation, we are dedicated to rescuing, healing, and rehoming Pitbulls who have been neglected, misunderstood, or abandoned. We provide individualized medical care, behavioral support, and compassionate rehabilitation for every dog we take in-because they deserve more than the world has given them. Recognizing that these resilient dogs often require more time and patience than many shelters can offer, we are committed to offering the attention they need to heal and thrive.
In Iowa, Pitbulls are among the top 5 most popular family dogs. However, due to limited affordable housing options, many are surrendered to shelters. This contributes to their overrepresentation in the state’s shelter system.
My Goals
Safe Haven:
To build a dedicated rescue facility that offers shelter, comfort, and healing for Pitbulls in need — especially those who are overlooked, misunderstood, or at risk in overcrowded shelters.
Healthcare:
Provide Medical & Behavioral Rehabilitation
Use my vet tech background to offer in-house care, medical support, and partner with behaviorists to help each dog become their best, healthiest, happiest self — no matter their past.
Change:
Finding Furever Homes
Match each dog with a loving, educated home where they’ll be understood and supported — not just rehomed, but set up for success.
Change Public Perception of Pitbulls
Educate the community through outreach, merchandise, and storytelling to shift how people see Pitbulls — from feared to loved, from judged to celebrated.
Support Local Shelters by Taking High-Risk Pitbulls
Adoption:
Work with nearby shelters to pull dogs that need extra time, space, or one-on-one care that a traditional shelter can’t offer — especially seniors, medical cases, and long-term stays.
Support:
Everything we do will be in memory of Paka — the woman who believed in this dream before it existed. Her love lives on in every second chance we give.
